Rob Kuffel, M.A.

Rob Kuffel has always called Southern California home despite being born in the mid-west and living in no less than five states and two countries. As he explains it, “California is where I spent my formative years, from age 1 to 23 and where I always planned to return, no matter where else life took me.” After graduating from California State University, Fullerton with a Batchelor’s degree in Communication, Rob joined the United States Navy where he served proudly as a Surface Warfare Officer. Rob spent about ten years on active duty and for more than half of that time, he was sailing the globe aboard various Navy ships. During his “shore tours” Rob managed to earn a Master’s degree in Information Systems.
In 2005, Rob left active duty and started his own brand as a licensed realtor in Texas. Rob oversaw an extremely successful team of realtors focused on Military relocations in and out of the San Antonio area. His real estate career was cut short however, when the housing market crashed in 2010. It was at this time that Rob made the decision to go back on active duty with the Navy for an additional three years. During those three years in Corona, California Rob met, courted and eventually married the man of his dreams, Joey Guzman-Kuffel.
Since 2015 Rob has worked in San Diego, California as a civil servant and administrative professional for the Department of the Navy. He is considered a subject matter expert in the area of military protocol. In addition, for the last two years Rob has worked part-time in support of his husband’s marriage and family therapy practice which is focused on the
mental health aspects of third-party reproduction. Because Rob and Joey have a daughter born through surrogacy Rob is able to draw on his firsthand experience with IVF and third-party reproduction as well as his strong administrative background to interact and support all clients who come to Counseling with Joey.
